Calviac Zoological Reserve

October 6 2014 , Written by Le BLOG d'Around The Rock Published on #France, #Lemur

Calviac Zoological Reserve, located 10 km from Sarlat in the Dordogne, is a non-profit institution dedicated to the conservation of endangered species, especially those of small and mediumsize.

Conservation actions in the environment are conducted in Europe and around the world, in partnership with other NGOs.

The reserve welcomes volunteers all the year.

Species in the reserve are grouped by geographic area:
- Europe: Wolverine, Mink, Souslik, rock hyrax, Ferruginous Duck, Bald Ibis, Barn Owl. - Madagascar: Lemur (Catta, Crowned, Black and white Vari,…), Fossa, Teal Bernier, Duck Meller.

- South America: Wolf maned, white Marmoset Brush, Margay, Saki, Geoffroy's Marmoset, Tapir Earth, Southern Screamer necklace, Capybara, Squirrel Monkey, Goeldi's Tamarin, Poudou Andes.

- Oceania: Parma Wallaby, Goura Victoria, Potorou.

During our stay at the reserve in August 2012, we participated in daily meal preparation, feeding and cleaning pens.

The rest of the time was devoted to the realization of projects for timely maintenance of the site. We keep very good memories of this experience in a professional and friendly team.
